SUPPORTING ALL VETERANS
AND THEIR FAMILIES
The Peter P. Monaco Jr., Detachment 40 of the Marine Corps League is a nonpartisan, nonprofit federally approved 501C4 organization chartered under the Marine Corps League National Headquarters incorporated by an Act of Congress in 1937 to provide support to all veterans, their families and those entrusted to its care. Since its inception in 1958 the Detachment has strived to preserve the traditions and promote the interest of the Marine Corps while welcoming all veterans – those on active or reserve status as well as those men and women who have been honorably discharged from all branches of the United States Armed Forces.
The Peter P. Monaco Jr., Detachment 40 endeavors to honor the sacrifices of those who serve honorably by enhancing their lives and the lives of their families, both at home and abroad, by fundraiser events, educational and support programs. The Detachment is committed to mentoring the youth through sponsorship of healthy programs in the community, advocating patriotism, honor and a strong sense of national pride.
Since 2012 to date, the Detachment has raised and donated over $100,000 in support of its wide range of veterans’ activities.
A HERO'S BIO
PETER P. MONACO
The Peter P. Monaco Jr. Detachment 40 was formed in named in honor of Corporal Peter P. Monaco Jr. a purple heart recipient who exemplified the ideals and principles of the United States Marine Corps in both word and deed. Corporal Monaco was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Naval Unit Citation, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. Peter was a resident of Glastonbury and served his country honorably.
