ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR NEW MEMBERS

Peter P. Monaco Jr. Detachment 40 is accepting applications for NEW members, including dual memberships and transfers from existing Marine Corps League Detachments. Join a group of men and woman who work tirelessly to promote community outreach and service as well as the ideals and honorable traditions of the Marine Corps.

Current and former Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and Navy Chaplains who honorably served or are serving are welcome to submit a membership application for consideration.

Individuals who did not serve in the Marine Corps, who share the Marine values and the purpose of the Marine Corps League may also join by applying for Associate Member status. That includes any active duty service men and woman. The Peter P. Monaco Jr Detachment encourages enrollment of veterans from all branches.

COMRADERY

There are many benefits to joining the Peter P. Monaco Detachment 40. The comradery that comes from the relationships built with fellow Marines and service members of all ages and units is lifelong. There is also a tremendous sense of pride and encouragement achieved by partaking in community projects and engagement.

BENEFITS

✔ Developing programs of special interest to Marines such as the annual Marine Corps Birthday celebration, recognition of Naval Corpsmen on their anniversary and honoring Marines on special occasions and events.

✔ Supporting and/or developing programs that lend assistance to those in need within the community, such as food drives, hospital assistance and participating in community programs and events.

✔ Taking care to support members and Marines and their families in time of distress, need, and illness by personal contact, cards, gifts, and financial assistance (if appropriate and/or realistic).

✔ Developing social events on a regular basis that are of interest to members, Marines, and/or their families that develop Detachment cohesiveness and esprit de corps.

✔ Providing service for, and supporting, the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign through collection and distribution of toys.

✔ Developing and/or assisting in veterans programs that support veterans in need, such as the VA Volunteer Services program for VA hospitals, veterans stand-down programs, direction and guidance for veterans needing assistance, and support of other veteran programs.

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Regular membership is available to anyone who is serving or has served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for more than (90) days, or has served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and has earned no less than (90) reserve retirement credit points. U.S. Navy corpsmen who have served with Marine FMF units in excess of (90) days and earned the Marine Corps Device worn on the Service Ribbon, and those who have earned the Warfare Device authorized for FMF corpsmen are also eligible for regular membership. Annual membership dues are $30 which includes a subscription to Semper Fi Magazine.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER

Anyone who does not meet the qualifications for regular membership but espouses the principles and purposes of the Marine Corps League may, upon application, be considered for membership in the Peter P. Monaco Jr. Detachment, Marine Corps League. Associate members have all the rights, privileges and benefits of a regular member, except that an associate member may not vote or hold elective office. However, an associate member may be appointed to a non-elective position.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP

Any member in good standing may apply for life membership status. Life membership dues are based on a sliding scale related to the member’s age group.

OATH OF MEMBERSHIP

I, (Your Name) in the presence of Almighty God and the members of the Marine Corps League, here assembled, being fully aware of the symbols, motto, principles and purposes, of the Marine Corps League, do solemnly swear, that I will uphold and defend the Constitution and Laws of the United States of America and of the Marine Corps League. I will never knowingly wrong, deceive, or defraud the League, to the value of anything. I will never. knowingly wrong or injure or permit any member, or any member’s family, to be wronged or injured, if to prevent same is within my power. I will never propose for membership. one known to me. To be unqualified or unworthy to become a member of the League, I further promise to govern my conduct in the League’s affairs and in my personal life, in a manner becoming a decent and honorable person, and will never knowingly bring discredit to the League. So help me, God.
